Curriculum and Learning
Learning activities are linked to themes: Getting to Know You, It's Getting Cold Outside, A Toy's Story, People Who Help Us, The Land of Far, Far Away and All Creatures Great and Small. The children will work towards 17 Early Learning Goals within 7 areas of learning: communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, expressive arts and design.
Parents are expected to support the work we do in school by listening to their children read everyday, regularly practising reading and writing sounds and words that are sent home weekly in 'Word Wizard' books and by helping their children with handwriting on the sheets also sent home on a weekly basis. Parents are also encouraged to look at activities posted on the Class VLE.
Our class trips this year will include a trip to Milestones Toy Museum, a Spring Walk on Frensham Common and a visit to Pierrepont Farm.
PE takes place on Tuesday mornings with the games coaches. On Monday mornings the children will either be taking part in PE sessions with the class teacher or forest school led by Ms Lankester.
