St Mary's Ethos

Every child is happy, safe and stimulated by our curriculum and environment, inspiring them to become confident, caring and independent learners for life.

 St Mary's Aims

  • A school which has children and learning at the heart of everything we do
  • A school where moral, social, spiritual, and cultural development underpins academic achievement
  • Inspirational learning opportunities which build skills for life
  • An inclusive curriculum which provides a range of enjoyable opportunities in which to participate and shine
  • A listening school where children and adults know their views are important, respected and acted upon
  • A warm, positive environment where we value determination, recognise achievement and celebrate success at all levels
  • A sense of team where children and adults feel appreciated and respected
  • As a Church school we aim to nurture the development of the whole child, in a Christian environment
  • We will encourage all children to achieve their full potential: intellectually, socially and physically, in a happy, caring, healthy and safe environment. We aim to give children an excellent education that will provide a firm foundation for their future learning
  • We value and respect the role of all contributors to the school community including parents and carers as educators of their own children. We seek to develop a strong partnership between home, school and the wider community
  • At St Mary’s School we seek to maintain a vibrant, happy school where the whole school community work together to achieve these aims

St Mary's Christian Values

As a church school we believe it is important to uphold the values God taught us in the Bible. Our six school values were suggested and agreed by the children of St Marys. They represent those things that the children think are particularly important to hold dear.  We feel that displaying these qualities will make us ‘the best we can be’.  We explicitly plan opportunities to develop children's understanding of what these mean. We aim for our children to be able to reflect on these values and apply them to different circumstances and problems, so developing their understanding of right and wrong that will guide them through life.
